Full Garden Economy Garden

Some years ago the Garden Club of Allegheny County decided to help restore the old gardens of the Great House at Economy, Pennsylvania. (25) The perennial border along the vine-covered wall was planted as nearly as possible to the early recollections of the description of flowers and plants, and from documents in the Great House museum. They were great lovers of music. (26) John Duss, the bandmaster, was an Economite. This band stand was built on a tiny island in the center of a pool, surrounded by a high trellis fence, and a narrow bridge gave the musicians access to the band-stand.
