Full Garden Mrs George H. Clapp
Lecture excerpt for this garden
(12) Mr. and Mrs. Clapp in Sewickley have a pergola that is a constant joy, for even in winter the brown bark of the grape vines makes an effective pattern against the stone columns, and on a warm day In summer, the shade of the grape leaves, and the cool planting along the path, make it a most comfortable place in which to spend an afternoon. (13) At the extreme end of the pergola there is a lovely archway and a comfortable chair, which tempt one to rest and look out into the garden beyond.
