Full Garden Mrs Maitland Alexander

Lecture excerpt for this garden

(1) This garden in Sewickley was recently taken over by one of our members, who bought a place that was perhaps twenty years old. She has changed it and added to it, and the first slide shows the garden in tulip time. (2) The tea house is on an axis with the terrace of the house, with a pool in the center. (3) The pool has a very agreeable planting of ivy and daphne around its limestone edge. I think we are apt to clutter up the edges of pools. A little more restrained planting adds to the charm. There is some very good garden sculpture in this garden, including a well head and a figure in a niche in the wall beyond. The garden of Mrs. Maitland Alexander.
