(130) … and there is a large natural pool surrounded in the spring by flowering shrubs, and in the fall, when this picture was taken, by trees which turn to various hues of gold and orange and red. This estate was chosen a few years ago for its beautiful rose garden, as a meeting place of the Rose Society of America, and last summer this estate was chosen by one of the great Electrical firms as the garden par excellence, to be lighted by their experts. The state was open for a week at night, and Mrs. Thaw was extremely gracious in her invitations to those who were interested in the lighting of gardens, a new field in this country.
